Kit Care

Even the best equipment won’t last forever. If it starts to shows signs of wear, get it fixed.

It’s not rocket science - look after your kit and it will look after you.

Keeping your kit clean will prolong its life - grit in particular can have an abrasive effect. If your gear is really filthy then wash it, but remember that washing is itself a form of wear so don’t overdo it, especially on kites.

If you do need to wash a powerkite, don’t treat it like a pair of socks. Instead of bunging it in the washing machine, clean it carefully by hand using lukewarm water.

You can either soak your lines whilst on the winder, or spool it out in large loops and keep the ends out of the way. Add a small amount of detergent and just enough water to cover the lines. Agitate very gently so as not to disturb the loops. Gently remove the plug and add water to rinse. Dry wet lines by placing them, on their winders, in a dry warm place and leave them overnight.
